Robert Morcos on Why South Florida Is Becoming a Serious Tech Hub

In a new interview with Invest:, published by Capital Analytics Associates, NEXA founder and CEO Robert Morcos talks about where enterprise IoT and mobility are headed — and why he's betting big on U.S.-based engineering to get there.

Morcos describes today's enterprise mobility market as a "blue ocean" opportunity, shaped by fragmentation and rising demand for purpose-built, secure connected devices rather than off-the-shelf hardware. He points to AI adoption as the biggest driver of that demand, along with a post-pandemic reckoning that pushed companies to rethink supply chain visibility and reduce reliance on Asia-based manufacturing.

The conversation also covers NEXA's recently announced $100 million commitment to domestic design and engineering, its work with the Department of Homeland Security, and the company's growth trajectory — including its acquisition of Sonim and a team that's grown past 250 people. Morcos also makes the case for South Florida's often-underestimated engineering talent pool, tracing roots back to the region's old Motorola ecosystem.
